StreetAction – Sustain your life!
The aim of the StreetAction – Sustain your life! project is to draw attention to the importance of sustainable lifestyle and the consequences of climate change. With the help of volunteers this project will address everyday-people in Ljubljana and the surroundings.
The idea is to make a street action every month in the streets of Ljubljana; the different actions focusing on a sustainable lifestyle and climate change. The monthly actions are connected to current holidays or customs of the society, and will show the importance of taking care of cultural heritage in a sustainable way. During the street actions we will also spread information and researches on the current topics.
November – Be thankful, and I’ll say: thanks!
The StreetAction in November would be connected to the holiday of Thanksgiving. Even though it is not a European custom, the concept of telling what you are grateful for can spread all over the world. With this action all those who did something for a better future would be greeted by us, furthermore their actions will be shared with the citizens. Everybody will have the chance to say thanks and to be thanked for being useful to the society.
The second part of this street actions will focus on the consequences of climate change. The idea is to present a child from one of the areas that will be first (and hardest) influenced by climate change and present how his/her daily life will be. The presentation will finish by the child saying thank you for living sustainable. This will
send the message that climate change is a global problem and how we live our life influence others.
December – Free, fancy and fully-sustainable Xmas present wrapping!
As long as during Christmas the amount of garbage is increasing with an enormous amount, we want to serve the society with a stand where people can choose from different fancy wrapping options, all for free. The “customers” get what they want plus everybody benefits it as long as it is sustainable!
January – Make your sustainable NY’s resolutions contract!
New Year’s resolutions Contract will serve as a tool for raising awareness through the year of 2011. Those who decide to make this contract with the volunteers make the resolution to live a sustainable life and can choose from different options served in the contract. The resolutions will be presented and free for all those with interest.
February – My sustainable Valentine!
The idea is to make Valentine’s Day as sustainable as possible! Ideas and different gifts will be presented, ideas will be collected and a special StreetAction event will take place in Ljubljana with the couples involved.
The other part of this street action is to raise awareness of all the things to get from the world and that therefore we should take better care of it.
March – Eater Bunny, Mr Sustainable!
With this action especially children and their parents will be addressed. Easter Bunny will be used as the perfect example, telling the way he lives when he is not fulfilling his duty. Family programs will be organised, and for being sustainable people will be gifted with some eggs.
June, July, August – Be a sustainable tourist!
The summer time action will mostly draw attention on the negative sides of tourism. The idea is to raise awareness in choosing options and serving with some alternative one.
To put everything together, the main point is in the promotion of sustainability with different tools, addressing the widest range of target group.
